Blog Rules

The internet is great, but can be a little dangerous, too. Although some of you may use Instant Messaging or other forms of electronic “talk,” we want to establish some guidelines for using this Blog site right from the start because we view this site as a digital extension of our classroom. This means that any rules or expectations we have for you in the classroom & RISD are the same rules and expectations we have for you here in Cyberspace

1. Never use your LAST name or another students last name (including home addresses, phone numbers, social security number, etc) in our class blog. There could be a stranger who reads our blog and we don’t want them to know full information.

2. To post, you are required to put your FIRST NAME (you may have a number after your name if there is more than one student with the same first name in your period)

3. Anytime you comment, make sure to use kind words . Always be respectful. So, try not to write anything that would make people frightened, angry, upset or embarrassed. It’s ok to ask thoughtful questions, even on sensitive subjects, but do so in tactful, polite manner. It’s ok to disagree with someone else as long as you do it politely.

4. Use correct language and punctuation! This is NOT texting.  You must follow the rules of grammar and spelling.  Proper punctuation is expected.

5. Lastly, remember, because our blog is on the internet, you can comment from class, from the computer lab, from home, or any other computer that is connected to the internet. All comments go to Mrs. Stoddart first for moderation, so they won’t show up immediately.

Consequences of EXTREME Inappropriate Behavior

1st Offense: Warning from the Teacher (your chance to improve)

2nd Offense: Parent/Teacher/Student Conference (mama and/or daddy time)

3rd Offense: Conference with Mrs.Oswald

This is so cool Mrs. Stoddart, and maybe after I get a cell phone, cable tv, an ipod, and move from the 80’s to the ot’s I will get one of these as well. Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher.
