I am home with my sick Margaret today! I am so sad. I will be there tomorrow.
I had a surprise for you today – but I will bring it tomorrow! It’s cool (a little stinky though)! It has to do with ENERGY!What is energy? Let’s find out today! YEAH!
- 1. Get your notebook and title the next clean right hand page WHAT IS ENERGY. Add this to your table of contents.
Show your neighbor that you have done this correctly.
- 2. You will use these websites to investigate vocabulary words and ideas. Write them and define them in your notebook (if you need to use more than one page that is OK).
- 4.Now read this to your table group (from your book p132)
You might not realize it, but YOU have a large amount of energy. In fact, everything around you has energy, but you only notice it when a change takes place.
Keep reading:
Any time a change occurs, energy is transferred from one object to another. You hear a footstep because energy is transferred from a foot hitting the floor to your ears. Leaves are put into motion when energy in the moving wind is transferred to them. The spot on the desktop becomes warmer when energy is transferred to it from the sunlight. In fact, all objects, including leaves and desktops, have energy.
- 5. In your notebook, write TRANSFERRING ENERGY - and in your own words include the information from the above passage in green. Click Here for more info!
I think therefore I convert energy!
- 6. There are 2 types of energy – KINETIC ENERGY and POTENTIAL. You will define them and give examples of both in your notebook using this website – click here. Cool interactive – click on VIEW after you CLICK HERE Here is another good site! Try this activity. CLICK HERE.
- 7. There are many forms of energy! List the types of Energy and give a brief description. Use this website – CLICK HERE. ALSO, TRY THIS GAME – CLICK HERE. Write down what you learned in your notebook!
- 8. On the right side – USE COLOR (pencils not markers) and draw an ADVERTISEMENT for ENERGY! Use at least 5 words from today’s lesson. Include FACTS, PICTURES, COLOR!
- 9. Leave me a comment! Tell me how you feel about today’s lesson!
